Authorities in Maryland have classified this challenge as a misdemeanor crime under Maryland Statute §6-301, also known as “Malicious Destruction of Property.” The penalty for participating in this challenge depends on the extent and value of the damage caused, with possible consequences ranging from 60 days in jail and a fine of up to $500 to three years in jail and a fine of up to $2,500.
Residents are urged to report any incidents related to this challenge to local law enforcement immediately.
