In a thrilling Coastal Athletic Association showdown on Saturday night, Towson defeated FCS 10th-ranked William & Mary with a score of 34-27. Quarterback Sean Brown led the Tigers to victory with two touchdown passes, while Branson Peters sealed the win with a 78-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
After a tied first half, Towson took control in the second half with Brown connecting with John Dunmore for a 16-yard touchdown pass. The Tigers’ defense stepped up with CJ McClendon sacking William & Mary’s quarterback, leading to Peters recovering the fumble and running it back for a touchdown.
Towson extended their lead in the third quarter with a three-yard touchdown run by Tyrell Greene Jr., making it 34-13. William & Mary fought back in the fourth quarter with two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Tigers.
Brown had a solid performance, completing 17 of 24 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns, while Greene rushed for 133 yards. On the other side, William & Mary’s Wilson threw for 209 yards and Yoder rushed for 84 yards.
This win was crucial for Towson, who had previously suffered back-to-back losses. The Tigers showed resilience and determination in this game, proving they are a force to be reckoned with in the Coastal Athletic Association.
