A highly anticipated national championship “rematch” between Michigan football and Washington will serve as more of a meet-and-greet as both teams have seen significant changes since their last showdown. With a combined 23 players drafted into the NFL from both teams and coaching staff turnover, the upcoming game will feature mostly new faces from the 2023 national championship.
Michigan, currently ranked No. 10 with a 4-1 record, is coming off a close win against Minnesota while Washington, currently 3-2, suffered a tough loss to Rutgers. The game will mark the conference matchup debut for both programs and will take place at Husky Stadium in Seattle.
Former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has moved on to coach the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL, lured by the presence of quarterback Justin Herbert. His coaching career includes successful stints at Michigan and Stanford, with a notable career record of 128–45 in college football and 46–19–1 in the NFL.
Former Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer, who posted an impressive 25-3 record in his two seasons with the team, has moved to Alabama following Nick Saban’s retirement. DeBoer has continued his winning streak at Alabama with a 4-0 record, including a win against then-No. 1 Georgia.
With exciting new developments on the coaching front and a fresh lineup of players, the upcoming game between Michigan and Washington promises to be a thrilling encounter for college football fans.
