She expressed her pain and heartbreak, revealing her years-long struggle to get Christian help with drugs, which she says are a significant issue in her community. The shooting occurred late at night when police responded to reports of gunshots in the Seek Lane Neighborhood Park. Despite efforts to save him, Christian died at the scene. Ortiz is actively involved in seeking help for the community’s gang and opioid problems, reaching out to politicians and visiting Annapolis to address the drug and violence crisis.
