Runner dies after completing Disneyland half-marathon in extreme heat

Bobby Graves, also known as @calebgtravels online, collapsed and died after completing Disneyland’s Halloween Half-Marathon in Southern California. Marathon workers immediately rendered aid, but Graves went into cardiac arrest and passed away at a local hospital. The cause of death is still being determined, and there were no known underlying medical issues. The day before the race, Graves posted a video expressing concern about the heat, which surpassed 100 degrees during the event. Disney expressed deep sadness over Graves’ death, as he was a frequent visitor and had a significant online following documenting his experiences at the park.

Graves, a writer and filmmaker, had a love for running and travel, as well as a passion for donuts. He was also an associate at a law firm specializing in entertainment, intellectual property, and commercial litigation. As temperatures soared during the race, health officials advise runners to stay hydrated, be alert for signs of heat illness, and seek help immediately if necessary. Dressing appropriately for the weather, applying sunscreen, and understanding the dangers of heat index are crucial for safety during hot weather running.

Friends and family confirmed Graves’ death on social media, asking for privacy and prayers during this difficult time. Graves’ online presence, documenting his time at Disneyland and other experiences, had garnered a large following across TikTok and Instagram. Despite the tragic loss, Graves will be remembered for his love for running, travel, and donuts, as well as his positive influence on social media.
