Authorities in Manassas Park, Virginia, conducted a search of Naresh Bhatt’s home as part of the investigation into the disappearance of his wife, Mamta Kafle Bhatt. Mamta has been missing since late July, and Naresh has been charged with concealing a dead body related to her disappearance. The search was conducted with the assistance of Prince William County’s forensic division, following new leads that detectives received recently.
Police did not reveal what specific evidence they were looking for during the search. Investigators have been focusing on areas such as the Blooms Crossing Community, Manassas Christian School, Camp Carondelet, and parts of Blooms Park, in addition to searching the couple’s home. Crime scene investigators have discovered bloodstains in the bedroom and bathroom of the house.
Naresh Bhatt, who has been in custody since his arrest, has waived his right to a grand jury trial and a preliminary hearing, indicating a desire to have a speedy trial. His defense team has requested a quick trial, while prosecutors gather evidence including phone records and tracking data from a vehicle Naresh sold before his arrest. The Manassas Park Police Department is hopeful that forensic searches will provide more information on Mamta’s whereabouts. Authorities are asking anyone who had contact with Naresh between July 28 and August 5 to come forward for questioning.
