Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) has warned parents of multiple rumored threats against various schools within the district. While the threats have been deemed non-credible so far, Superintendent Aaron Spence emphasized that they are being taken seriously, with law enforcement and LCPS Safety & Security actively investigating. Classes will continue as scheduled, but there will be an increased police and security presence on campuses as a precaution.
The district has seen an increase in such incidents over the past week, following school shootings. Spence acknowledged parents’ concerns about school safety but assured them that existing safety measures are effective and that LCPS remains vigilant. He urged parents to talk to their children about the serious consequences of making or sharing threats, even in jest.
Spence also encouraged students to avoid spreading false rumors and to report any concerns using the Safe2Talk app. He acknowledged that families may be feeling anxious and stressed, and assured them that support services are available through the school. Spence thanked parents for their cooperation and support, promising to take every precaution to ensure student safety.
Overall, while the threats remain unconfirmed, LCPS is handling the situation with caution and urging the community to remain vigilant. Parents are encouraged to have open conversations with their children about the seriousness of threats and to report any concerns promptly.
