Guardians defeat White Sox 6-4 with 4 RBIs from Lane Thomas

Lane Thomas led the Cleveland Guardians to a 6-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox with four RBIs, completing a three-game series sweep. The Guardians extended their lead in the AL Central division and now hold the best record in the American League. The struggling White Sox have now lost 15 consecutive games at home and 17 out of their last 19 overall.
Thomas showcased his hitting prowess with two crucial hits that drove in four runs, while Austin Hedges contributed a solo home run. The Guardians’ bullpen was solid, allowing just two hits and securing the win for Cleveland. Nick Sandlin earned the win, while Emmanuel Clasé notched his 44th save of the season.
Despite a comeback attempt by the White Sox, fueled by several Cleveland errors, they fell short in the end. Cleveland added an insurance run in the eighth inning to secure the victory.
In terms of injuries, Ben Lively is expected to make his next start after being hit by a line drive in his last outing. James Karinchak has also begun a rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus. On the White Sox side, outfielder Andrew Benintendi did not start but pinch-hit in the eighth inning.
The next game for the Guardians will feature RHP Gavin Williams against Tampa Bay’s RHP Ryan Pepiot, while the White Sox will send LHP Garrett Crochet to the mound against Oakland.
