Caesars Sportsbook to Introduce Sports Betting Kiosks in Washington D.C., Replacing GamebetDC

Caesars Sportsbook to Install 53 Kiosks in D.C. Following Gamebet DC’s Departure

This summer, the D.C. sports betting scene is undergoing a transformation with the announcement from Caesars Sportsbook. The renowned sportsbook is set to install 53 sports betting kiosks in small businesses across Washington D.C. in partnership with the District’s Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG). These new kiosks will replace Gamebet DC, the former primary operator in the District that struggled to gain traction in the market.

Previously, Caesars was only available for in-person sports betting at the Capital One Arena, the home of the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals. However, with regulatory changes in D.C., Caesars is now expanding its presence in the city. President of Caesars Digital, Eric Hession, expressed gratitude in a press release for the opportunity to connect with sports fans in the nation’s capital through the new kiosks.

The departure of Gamebet DC earlier this year opened up an opportunity for new sportsbooks to enter the D.C. market. The OLG selected FanDuel as the exclusive operator initially, but a budget amendment later allowed multiple operators to enter the market. Ultimately, Caesars was chosen to revive the kiosks left vacant by Gamebet DC, showcasing the benefits of a competitive market over a monopoly in sports betting.

This expansion in the D.C. sports betting market signifies a shift towards more options and opportunities for residents to engage in sports wagering. With major U.S. sportsbooks like Caesars, BetMGM, and DraftKings now operating in the city, D.C. residents can expect a more diverse and competitive sports betting landscape in the near future.
