Caesars Entertainment’s sports betting unit, Caesars Sportsbook, has taken over the operation of 53 sports wagering kiosks in Washington, DC that were previously controlled by GambetDC. This move comes after Intralot outsourced the operation of its app to FanDuel, leading to an expansion of gaming companies offering mobile betting in the city. Caesars was able to land the kiosk business as a result of this expansion.
Bettors in Washington, DC are familiar with the Caesars brand, as the company opened a retail sportsbook at Capital One Arena in 2021. The self-service betting kiosks allow users to place wagers and add funds to their Caesars Sportsbook mobile accounts, as well as earn rewards credits in the Caesars Rewards program.
The kiosks are located throughout the city in bars, taverns, restaurants, and official lottery retailers. Retailers initially expressed concerns about the expansion of the mobile sports betting market potentially impacting kiosk usage, but the Caesars brand and logo may help allay these concerns and attract bettors to continue using the kiosks.
Financial terms of the deal between Caesars and the Office of Lottery and Gaming were not disclosed. The addition of Caesars Sportsbook to the Washington, DC sports betting market provides bettors with more options and convenience in their sports wagering experience.
