Kentucky police reported an active shooter situation near Interstate 75 in London, Kentucky, where several people were shot in traffic. London mayor Randall Weddle confirmed that seven people were injured, but not all by gunfire, with some hurt in a vehicle accident. No fatalities were reported. The sheriff’s office has identified a person of interest who is considered armed and dangerous.
The incident began on Saturday evening when multiple vehicles were fired at on the interstate in Laurel County, just outside London. Shots were coming from a wooded area or overpass. The suspect has not been apprehended, and residents are urged to stay indoors. Governor Andy Beshear advised avoiding the area and asked for prayers for those involved.
London, a small city with around 8,000 residents, is located 100 miles northwest of Frankfort. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, and more details will be provided as they become available. The community is asked to remain vigilant and report any information related to the shooting to law enforcement.
