Democrats have stepped up their campaign against the conservative Project 2025 blueprint, associated with Republican Donald Trump, by flying banners over college football stadiums in key swing states. The plan, developed by allies of Trump and detailed in a 900-page document produced by the Heritage Foundation, includes controversial proposals such as firing federal workers and imposing new restrictions on abortion and diversity initiatives.
Vice President Kamala Harris and her allies have been vocal in denouncing Project 2025, aiming to paint Trump as an extreme candidate. Banners were flown over stadiums in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, with messages urging fans to “Beat Trump” and reject Project 2025. The Trump campaign did not respond to requests for comment on the banners.
The Democratic National Committee is utilizing creative avenues, such as flying banners over sports events, to spread awareness about Project 2025. However, some strategists caution that the focus on the conservative blueprint should not overshadow Harris’ positive message about the changes she wants to make.
Despite concerns about backlash from Trump supporters in the game crowds, Democrats remain committed to getting their message out. The banners flying over stadiums serve as a visual representation of the party’s opposition to Project 2025 and Trump’s policies, even in the face of potential opposition from sports fans in more Republican-leaning areas.
