Former Vice President Mike Pence, who served under President Donald Trump, has taken on a new role teaching political science at conservative Grove City College in Pennsylvania. This marks his first job since leaving office. Pence taught his first class in person, accompanied by Grove City College President Paul J. McNulty, although he may also teach via videoconference due to his schedule. Pence admitted that teaching is harder than it looks, asking for patience from students before beginning his first lecture. He expressed excitement about his new role, acknowledging the privilege of teaching future Christian leaders. Grove City College, which does not accept federal funding, appointed Pence as its first Distinguished Fellow for Faith and Public Life earlier this year. Pence’s time in office was marked by a notable divide with Trump, particularly on the issue of certifying the 2020 election results that made Joe Biden president. However, during his visit to Grove City College, Pence was met with warm reception and support from students of diverse backgrounds. Despite his previous political conflicts, Pence seemed impressed with the gracefulness of the student body and expressed humility in their reception. Pence, who dropped out of the 2024 Republican nomination race in October, has turned to academia as his new venture.
