Doggie Day Swim makes a splash at 4 DC pools this weekend

WASHINGTON – The D.C. Parks and Recreation is set to host its annual Doggie Day Swim event this weekend at four pools in the District. This event allows dogs to enjoy one last swim before the outdoor pool season comes to an end.

On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., dogs will have the chance to swim, play in the pools, and join in on aquatic games. The event is free, but all dogs must have a valid D.C. dog license issued by the Department of Health to participate. Owners will need to provide their dog’s license number and proof when registering, with copies or photographs not being accepted. Information on how to apply for or renew a dog license is available on D.C. Health’s website, with required documentation including proof of current vaccinations and spaying or neutering.

All dogs must be leashed on the pool decks, up-to-date on vaccinations, and spayed or neutered. Handlers must be at least 16 years old and are not allowed to swim with their pets. The Doggie Paddle event will be held at Langdon Park Pool, Francis Pool, Ridge Road Pool, and Upshur Pool.
