Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson on a book tour discussing her new book

Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman Supreme Court Justice, is currently on a media tour to promote her memoir “Lovely One.” The book discusses her upbringing, pride in her African heritage, and the challenges she faced while climbing the success ladder. Jackson, who was recently nominated to the Supreme Court, has been reserved about her two years on the bench and has refrained from commenting on some controversial court decisions and ethical issues.

In her memoir, Jackson talks about her parents’ influence in instilling the belief that nothing is too hard to accomplish if she is willing to work for it. She also discusses her interracial marriage, the difficulty of being a new mother, and raising a daughter with autism. Her daughters also had a say in her decision to accept the nomination to the Supreme Court, with her youngest daughter speaking up about the importance of not hiding her autism or struggles in school.

Despite recent controversy surrounding the Supreme Court, many, like retired social worker Orandra Cotton, believe that Jackson will do the right thing on the bench. Cotton, who has lost respect for the court due to recent rulings and ethical issues, expressed confidence in Jackson’s abilities. Jackson’s promotion to the Supreme Court has been seen as a significant milestone for Black women, with many celebrating and supporting her historic rise to the highest court in the land.
