Muskogee’s defense was the big question mark going into the Class 6AII championship defense, as they had three returning starters. However, in their game against Tulsa Washington, their defense proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Kenyon Goodson’s 95-yard interception return shifted the momentum of the game in Muskogee’s favor, leading them to a 56-21 victory. Quarterback Jamarian Ficklin had a strong performance, throwing for three touchdowns. Running back P.J. Wallace also had an impressive game with 130 yards on 15 carries. The Roughers defense held Tulsa Washington to a minus 17 yards and no first downs during a crucial stretch of the game. Head coach Travis Hill praised his team’s performance, stating that they improved throughout the game. Muskogee’s experience and talent were on full display, as they dominated Tulsa Washington. The team’s offensive line received high praise from Wallace, who noted it as the best offensive line he has played with. While Tulsa Washington gave a good fight, Muskogee’s depth and skill ultimately led them to victory. The Roughers will look to build upon this success in their upcoming game against Rogers, Arkansas. Coach Hill is confident that his team will continue to improve as they progress through the season, with their sights set on another championship title.
