As the 10th anniversary of the disappearance of Sarah and Jacob Hoggle approaches, the tragic case continues to draw attention. The children went missing on Labor Day in 2014, with their bodies never being found despite extensive searches. The children’s mother, Catherine Hoggle, who was suffering from schizophrenia at the time, was charged with their murders but has been deemed incompetent to stand trial. The charges were eventually dropped, but Hoggle remains confined at a mental hospital.
Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy described the case as one of the most frustrating of his career, with the community seeking closure and answers. The children’s father, Troy Turner, expressed his anguish at the time of their disappearance, stating, “What I want to do is just… you know… get them back. I want people to know what they look like.”
FOX 5 has extensively covered the Hoggle case, including producing a true-crime podcast. On Labor Day, a special report will be released on the FOX Local app, featuring interviews with Hoggle’s attorney and the children’s father. The report aims to mark a decade since the children’s disappearance and continue the search for answers in this unresolved tragedy.
The Hoggle case remains one of the most notorious missing persons cases in the Washington, D.C. area, with the anniversary serving as a reminder of the ongoing search for justice and closure for Sarah and Jacob.
