Boxes of french fries caused a messy situation on a Los Angeles freeway after a semi-truck crashed, spilling its load and diesel fuel onto the road. The crash occurred early in the morning on Interstate-5 southbound, blocking lanes for hours. It was determined that the driver of the semi-truck made an unsafe turning movement for unknown reasons, causing the vehicle to hit an impact collision attenuator and detach its trailer. The spilled fries and diesel fuel covered the lanes, leading to a lengthy clean-up process that lasted until 9:30 a.m. CHP did not confirm if the truck was carrying fries, but hazardous materials were involved in the crash, prompting the California Department of Transportation to assist with cleanup. The incident caused major traffic delays and a messy scene on the freeway.
