Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown has announced the indictment of four individuals, aged 16 to 20, for their involvement in a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries targeting federally licensed firearm dealers in Anne Arundel, Prince George’s, and Baltimore Counties. The group is accused of stealing at least 81 firearms and 10 firearm replicas in a crime spree that spanned from December 2023 to March 2024. The defendants face charges for their roles in three successful burglaries and seven attempted burglaries of Federal Firearm Licensee (FFL) stores, as well as one charge of motor vehicle theft. The investigation, conducted with the help of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), revealed that the group meticulously planned and executed their crimes, breaking into stores late at night and using pry bars to gain entry. Only six of the stolen firearms have been recovered, with several found in the possession of juveniles or individuals prohibited from owning them. The group also attempted to sell or trade the stolen firearms on social media, leading to at least two instances where they were robbed of the stolen weapons. One incident resulted in a member of the group accidentally shooting an associate in the feet. The defendants, charged as adults, are currently being held without bail and will face prosecution for their crimes. Marylanders are encouraged to report any information regarding the remaining stolen firearms as law enforcement works to recover them.
