The former FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland has been renamed Northwest Stadium after the Washington Commanders struck a naming rights deal with Northwest Federal Credit Union. The new agreement marks a new chapter for the NFL team, with exclusive branding across the stadium and Northwest serving as the team’s jersey patch partner for practices. The financial terms and length of the deal were not disclosed, but both parties are excited about creating incredible memories together on and off the field. This new partnership will be officially launched at a news conference on September 15 before the Commanders’ home season opener against the New York Giants. The Commanders’ owner, Josh Harris, expressed excitement about building the team into an elite franchise that consistently competes for championships. FedEx had previously paid $205 million for the naming rights to the stadium in 1999 but ended the partnership two years early in February. Northwest Federal Credit Union President & CEO Jeff Bentley expressed honor in welcoming everyone to Northwest Stadium and introducing the inspiring initiatives of the collaboration.
