The Washington Commanders are facing a pass rush problem after trading away key players Montez Sweat and Chase Young last season. The replacements, Dorance Armstrong and Clelin Ferrell, have not provided the same star power. In light of this, Bleacher Report has suggested the idea of signing D.C. native Yannick Ngakoue to bolster the pass rush. Ngakoue, who has consistently recorded at least eight sacks in every season he’s played, may be interested in returning to his hometown of Washington D.C. after playing for six different franchises in the past five seasons. Although he may not be the Pro Bowl talent he once was, Ngakoue is still a force to be reckoned with on the field.
At 29 years old, Ngakoue could bring a much-needed boost to the Commanders’ defense and make them more formidable for opposing offenses. While he may not have the same accolades as he did in 2017, Ngakoue’s presence on the field would require opposing offensive coordinators to plan around him, making the Commanders a more dangerous team overall. As fans eagerly await the upcoming season, they can stay updated on all things Washington Commanders through CommanderGameday and the Locked On Commanders podcast. With Ngakoue potentially joining the team, the Commanders could be looking at a stronger defense and a more promising season ahead.
