NASA to disclose plan for safe return of Boeing Starliner crew stranded on ISS

NASA officials are set to reveal the return plans for the crew of the Boeing Starliner rocket at a live news conference on Saturday. The Boeing Starliner launched in June and has been plagued with issues, including helium leaks and propulsion system problems. The flight-readiness review will determine whether the crew can return to Earth on the Starliner or if they will have to wait until February to return on a SpaceX Dragon. The decision will be announced by NASA Administrator Bill Nelson after meeting with officials from NASA and Boeing. The news conference will be broadcast on NASA Television, streamed on NASA+ and the agency’s website, app, and YouTube channel. The Crew-9 mission has been postponed due to the delays with Starliner, with the docking port needed for Crew-9 not becoming available until September 24. If Starliner cannot return with the crew, they will have to wait until February to return with the next mission. In the meantime, the astronauts have been working on scientific research and maintenance on the International Space Station during their extended stay.
