A Missouri man, David Moore, drowned while trying to save his girlfriend’s 5-year-old son and another person who fell into the water without a life vest on Smithville Lake. Moore, who also wasn’t wearing a life vest, managed to rescue the two individuals but was pulled away from the boat by the current and drowned. His body was later found by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Moore’s family and friends described him as a selfless person who always helped others. A GoFundMe was set up to raise money for funeral costs but was later deactivated. Authorities are reminding people to wear life vests when on the water to prevent tragedies like this from happening. David’s friend mentioned that he would have wanted his life to end while helping others, highlighting his selflessness. This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety and the potential risks of not wearing a life vest while boating.
