Thousands of people stood in line outside Desert Diamond Arena in 104-degree heat to attend a rally by former President Donald Trump. More than 100 people were treated for heat-related injuries, with some taken to the hospital. Heat-related hospitalizations have been common at Arizona Trump rallies this summer. Attendees had to wait in line for hours and had limited access to free water. In contrast, Vice President Kamala Harris’ rally provided amenities like water, fans, and Mexican popsicles to combat the heat.
Despite the challenging conditions, attendees like Alan Martinez and Landon Mahoney were enthusiastic to back Trump and support his policies on the economy and immigration. Other attendees, like Tanner Winthorp, Chris Jansen, and Grant Linq, expressed support for stricter immigration policies, including potential mass deportation. Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s endorsement of Trump intrigued rallygoers like Garret Balcitis, who was curious to see if Kennedy would play a role in Trump’s administration if he wins the election.
While attendees expressed a range of political views and priorities, the overall atmosphere at the rally was one of enthusiasm and support for Trump. Despite the challenges of the heat and long waiting times, many attendees remained committed to backing Trump and were eager to hear him speak on various issues, including the economy, immigration, and potential future policy changes.
