The Washington Commanders made a series of roster moves as they wrapped up their 10th day of training camp, ahead of a joint practice with the New York Jets. Tight end Armani Rogers was released, and offensive tackle Alex Akingbulu was waived with an injury designation. In their place, the team signed center/guard J.C. Hassenauer to bolster their offensive line depth.
Akingbulu suffered a right leg injury during practice, while Rogers, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent, missed the 2023 season due to an achilles injury. Hassenauer, a former Pittsburgh Steeler, has played in at least 13 games each season from 2020-2022. The addition of Hassenauer provides more flexibility and experience to the Commanders offensive line group.
With Akingbulu possibly heading to injured reserve, the Commanders could have another roster spot open for further moves in the near future.
