The Washington High School softball team had a successful 2023-2024 season, earning a spot at number eight on KCII’s top 10 sports stories countdown. With back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in a decade, the Demons won 24 games, the most in 11 years. Led by the Salazar sisters, Leighton and Bella, the team excelled both offensively and defensively. Leighton was a standout player, earning second-team all-state honors for the second year in a row. Bella also had a stellar season, earning third-team all-state recognition for her performance as a pitcher and hitter. Other key players like Alyvia Anderson and Ella Greiner also received accolades for their contributions to the team’s success. With a strong offense and a solid pitching staff, the Demons finished second in the Southeast Conference for the second consecutive year.
