Eastern Washington Eagles are gearing up for the new season as they enter fall camp with most key players and coaches returning from last year. The offense, led by quarterback Kekoa Visperas, has eight starters returning, including standout wide receivers Efton Chism III and Nolan Ulm. Visperas, who threw for 19 touchdowns last season, is feeling more confident after a year of experience leading the offense. Running back Tuna Altahir is also back with the goal of increasing production in the running game.
Coach Aaron Best is looking for the running backs to average five yards per carry this season to provide a strong offensive balance. The defense, led by linebacker Derek Tommasini, is benefiting from facing a high-powered offense in practice every day, which is pushing them to improve their game as well.
The Eagles are focused on fine-tuning their offense during fall camp as they prepare to host Monmouth University in their season opener on August 29. Players like Ulm are excited about the familiarity and continuity within the team, building on what they had achieved in spring ball. The returning offensive linemen and skill position players provide a solid foundation for the Eagles as they aim to build on last year’s success and make a statement in the upcoming season.
