Breaking News, Weather, and Sports in Seattle

Despite hazy skies caused by wildfire smoke, air quality in western Washington remains at a good level. The smoke, coming from fires in Canada, is high in the atmosphere and not affecting the air quality on the west side of the Cascades. However, an Air Quality Alert is in place for central and eastern Washington due to dense smoke moving eastward, particularly from the Retreat Fire near Rimrock.

The current weather pattern includes a weak low-pressure system causing thunderstorms in some areas, but these are expected to diminish by sunset. Sunday will bring lingering low clouds before skies become partly sunny in the afternoon with temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s. Monday will see cloudy skies and light rain as another low-pressure system approaches offshore.

Scattered showers will continue into Tuesday with temperatures remaining below normal in the 60s. By Wednesday, high pressure will bring sunny skies back to western Washington, with temperatures rising into the 80s by the end of the week. Meteorologist Rebecca Stevenson and the KOMO4 Forecast Team are keeping a close eye on the changing weather patterns to keep residents informed.
