Rocket Strikes Sports Field in Golan Heights, Israeli media reports

Ten people, including children, were killed in a rocket attack on a sports field in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Saturday. Israel’s N12 News reported that the rocket was fired by Lebanese group Hezbollah, although Hezbollah denied involvement. The attack, which left nine people critically wounded, was likely to provoke a strong response from Israel. The scene of the attack was described as gruesome, with great destruction and casualties on the soccer pitch.

In retaliation, Israel conducted a strike in Lebanon that killed four militants, including members of Hezbollah. This triggered a series of rocket attacks from Lebanon into Israel, with at least 30 rockets being fired across the border. The Israeli military attributed the rocket launch to Hezbollah based on their intelligence assessments.

Hezbollah, however, denied responsibility for the attack on the soccer pitch in Majdal Shams, stating that they had nothing to do with the incident. They claimed that the Islamic Resistance had no involvement in the attack and refuted all allegations against them.

The ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has intensified since October, following Hamas’ attack on southern Israel which led to the Gaza war. This recent escalation between the two sides is the most severe since 2006. The situation remains tense and the potential for further violence looms large.
