Ukraine informs China that Russia is unprepared for ‘good faith’ negotiations | Updates on Russia-Ukraine conflict

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba visited Guangzhou, China to discuss bilateral relations and the war. Kuleba emphasized that Kyiv was open to negotiating with Russia but only if done in “good faith.” China, presenting itself as a neutral party in the conflict, insists on bringing both Kyiv and Moscow to the negotiating table to end the war. While denying claims of backing Russia’s war efforts, China reiterated its open and above board position. Kuleba’s talks with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi also touched on expanding food imports from Ukraine and addressing the humanitarian situation in Ukraine. Both sides expressed support for peace efforts, with China willing to play a constructive role in achieving a ceasefire and peace talks. Meanwhile, Russia has proposed conditions for ending the war, including Kyiv retreating from occupied territories and dropping its NATO ambitions. As Kuleba works to advance the peace process through an international summit, Ukraine seeks a Global South host and Russian participation. Despite ongoing conflict, efforts are being made by all sides to push for peace and negotiation in the ongoing war.
