Angelina Jolie’s legal team is urging Brad Pitt to drop his lawsuit over the French winery they co-owned and put an end to their ongoing legal battles. Pitt first sued Jolie in February 2022, claiming she breached their contract by selling her Chateau Miraval stake without his consent. The exes have been embroiled in messy legal disputes over the winery and custody of their six children since their split in 2016.
Jolie’s lawyers claimed that Pitt would not buy her shares in the wine company unless she signed an NDA, and alleged that his request was meant to conceal his alleged physical abuse of the actress. Pitt’s lawyers denied the allegations and argued that Jolie made the claims to rationalize the sale of her stake. A judge granted Pitt’s motion to compel Jolie to produce all NDAs she signed between 2014 and 2022.
Jolie’s lawyer released a statement accusing Pitt of trying to control and punish her with the expanded NDA request. The ongoing legal battles have been described as a “pattern of behavior” between the two, with misleading information introduced as distractions. Despite a lengthy custody trial granting Pitt 50/50 custody, the exes continue to fight in court. Jolie’s team is asking Pitt to drop the lawsuit and put their family on a path toward healing.
