Savannah Country Day School recently announced the hiring of James Franklin as the new Director of Athletics and Physical Education, replacing Kenny Conroy. Franklin, a native of England, officially started his role on July 1. In an interview with Connect Savannah, Franklin discussed his goals of building a strong athletic culture and retaining student-athletes at the school. With extensive experience in coaching and athletic administration, Franklin brings a strategic vision and communication skills to the role.

Meanwhile, Benedictine graduate and Vanderbilt pitcher Carter Holton is set to enter the 2024 MLB Draft as a top prospect, showcasing his talent and potential as a future professional athlete. On a different note, rising junior wide receiver Josh Washington has transferred to Benedictine Military School after successfully playing at Savannah Country Day for two years. His eligibility for the upcoming football season is expected to be immediate.

In other sports news, the City of Savannah is hosting a 3-v-3 basketball tournament at the Blackshear Basketball Complex, while the Jenkins Athletic Club is organizing a ping-pong tournament to raise funds for their youth sports programs. Additionally, Savannah native Nolan Smith is hosting a charity football camp for kids aged 10-13 at Daffin Park. The camp is free to attend and aims to provide children with the opportunity to learn from a professional athlete and former University of Georgia standout.
