Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko added to Russia’s wanted list

The Russian government has put former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko on its wanted list for unspecified criminal charges, according to state media reports. Tymoshenko joins Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his predecessor Petro Poroshenko on the list, which also includes officials and lawmakers from Ukraine and NATO countries. Tymoshenko’s party, Batkivshchyna, did not immediately comment on the situation.

Other notable figures on the wanted list include Kaja Kallas, the Prime Minister of NATO and EU member Estonia, who has been advocating for increased military aid to Ukraine and stronger sanctions against Russia. Russian officials claim Kallas is wanted due to Estonia’s removal of Soviet-era monuments to Red Army soldiers, citing laws against the “rehabilitation of Nazism” and the desecration of war memorials.

The list also includes cabinet ministers from Estonia and Lithuania, as well as the International Criminal Court prosecutor who prepared a war crimes warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin. Additionally, the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, has been charged with “terrorist” activities related to Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian infrastructure.

The inclusion of these figures on Russia’s wanted list reflects ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, as well as broader geopolitical issues involving NATO and the EU. It remains to be seen how these developments will impact international relations and efforts to address the conflict in Ukraine.
